A Disenchanted Forest
A copse beside the Weddell Bridge Road between Tobermore and Draperstown will come to light at the end of this month to celebrate an ancient Irish festival.
‘The Disenchanted Forest’ is a Halloween Trail through the Glebe Woods under the Black Hill.
Visitors can expect a commingle of son et lumière, promenade theatre and Halloween hauntings, with tricks and treats along the way. It will be a journey for all the senses as well as an opportunity to learn a little about the tradition of Samhain or All Hallows’ E’en. The scare factor will be set to the wishes of groups walking the 200 metre trail.
“This is not about making children frightened of going into wild places” says organiser Walter Holt “it is about providing an entertaining new way to mark the summer’s end in this region”.
The event will be open to the public on Thursday 29th & Friday 30th October from Dusk till 8.00pm and on Halloween, Saturday 31st October, from Dusk till 9.00pm.
Entrance will cost £5.00 per head and sensible family rates will be available as children will need to be accompanied.
Organisers suggest visitors dress warm and bring appropriate footwear.
The entrance can be found at 66 Tobermore Road, Draperstown, BT45 7HJ
